It was a foggy evening, I found it hard to see as I ran through the streets of what was once New York City. I was clutching a loaf of bread, looking over my shoulder once in awhile to see if I was still being pursued... I was, Damn it.

"What happened here?"
Two men stood in the midst of a ruined city, all around them were the remains of grand buildings, which now lay in crumpled heaps, And everywhere they looked, dead bodies were scattered across the ground.
"Whatever it was, it was merciless..." Said the younger of the two men.
The men walked through the streets, searching for any signs of survivors, though neither of them had much hope of finding anything.
As they walked through the bodies of men, woman and children, one of the men suddenly froze.
"Did you hear that?" He asked.
"Hear what?" Asked the other man, confused.

Before I tell my story, I want to give you a little history lesson.
Around seventy years ago, the world was dying, much of the world had fallen into debt, and in order to pay that debt, people kept taking more and more of the earth's resources, leaving nothing but bare ground behind.

Late one night, a man sat at a computer in an office by himself, hurriedly typing something as he tried his hardest to not fall asleep at his desk.
'Almost done,' He thought as he caught himself nodding off,'Just a few more paragraphs...'
The next thing he knew, the man jerked awake, looking around for the sound that had startled him.
"Hello?" He asked, standing up from his chair,"Is anyone there?"
The man scanned the room, but found nothing. He gave a sigh and turned around to shut off his computer, 'I'm so tired I'm hearing things, I should just go home and sleep, the report will still be here tomorrow,' He reasoned.
As the computer's scree
